Lanier National Speedway drew a strong field of 31 ASA Southeast
Asphalt Tour cars for their second of three visits in 2009.
With only a few tenths of a second separating the pole speed and
the rear of the field, the large crowd of fans were in store for a
wild night of racing. Unfortunately, things got a little too
wild for Horak Racing as a back-marker failed to slow for an
incident up the track and plowed into Terry Horak's #28 Chevrolet
on lap two sending him nose first into the outside safety
barrier. With the suspension and radiator still intact,
Brooks Rash, Kyle Beattie and the rest of the Horak Racing crew
went to work on making the repairs necessary to get Horak back on
the track. Twenty six laps later Horak returned to the track
and despite not having any front end bodywork, was able to run the
rest of the 100 lap race and finish 19th. Quick turnaround by
the savvy crew allowed Horak to maintain his 9th place
position in the ASA SAT points battle.
