The historic Milwaukee Mile lived up to its reputation for
delivering plenty of thrills and chills for Horak Racing over the
weekend. Friday's practice rounds under clear blue skies
yielded lap times for Horak in the top five of the field.
Unfortunately Saturday morning brought strong thunderstorms and a
halt to on-track activities until early afternoon.
With a green racetrack, team Horak was a little uncertain about
the level of grip that would be found on the track for qualifying,
but crew chief Neal Cantor and the boys put one of their ace
set-ups on the car and Terry wheeled the #28 Firefly Sweet Tea
Vodka Chevrolet Camaro to fourth quick in the stout
filed.
Full of anticipation for a strong run, Horak would start seventh
on the field after Sunoco National Tour officials inverted the top
ten qualifiers in order to add a little excitement. Well it
did just that for Terry. As the fielded bunched in turn three
on the first lap, grip became elusive for Horak causing the #28 to
slide up into teammate Cody Humphreys. With the frontend
geometry askew after the contact, Terry's car was off the pace, but
a ten minute break in the action at halfway allowed the crew to get
the car repaired. Horak was able to fight back and finish in
eighth place, but was disappointed for the crew and Cody in what
could have been a very good day for both cars.
With Milwaukee behind them, Horak Racing will spend the next few
weeks preparing for two prestigious events; the Kings Ransom 300 at
North Wilkesboro Speedway, and the North/South Shootout at Concord
Speedway. See you at the races.
