Horak Racing rolled into Nashville Super Speedway with a
tremendous amount of confidence in their Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka
Chevrolet Camaro, and it showed. Sitting near the top of the
speed charts throughout final practice, the team turned their
attention to making a great qualifying run. With only one lap
to get it done, Terry wheeled the #28 Camaro around the 1.33 mile
circuit with a time of 31.097 seconds with an average speed of
154mph; good enough for third quickest in the stout field of Sunoco
National Tour stock cars.
With six cars at the front of the field being inverted for the
start, Horak would line up in fourth position outside row
two. Unfortunately, an issue with a rear wheel sent Terry to
pit road during the warm up laps forcing him to start at the rear
of the field. However, the strong setup crew chief Neal
Cantor put on the car helped Terry wheel the car back up to sixth
spot by the halfway point in the race.
When the field took the green after the half way stop, Horak
made short work of passing his way up to third spot.
Unfortunately, while gaining on the leaders in the later stages of
the event, motor problems sent the 28 to the pits and the team's
day was done. Despite the disappointing ending, team Horak
was very pleased with their qualifying and race performance at
Nashville. The team will now turn its focus to the Milwaukee
Mile on September 11.
