Coming home with a 21st place finish in the strong
26-car field at Greenville Pickens Speedway felt pretty good to the
Horak Racing team considering they were one of only three "crate"
motor cars in the field. As crew chief Neal Cantor described
"it was like bringing a butter knife to a gun fight"; yet despite
being significantly out horse-powered by the strong "built" motor
boys of the PASS Series, Horak was happy to be back in competition
again after a three-month hiatus following the demise of the ASA
Southeast Asphalt Tour. Veteran racer Pat Beattie was on hand
to lend his valuable engineering insight to the team's efforts
throughout the weekend and give them a confidence boost heading
into the prestigious North South Shootout November 5 -
7th. Though the team will likely be out
horse-powered again, they will be competing for bonuses specific
for the crate motor cars. With the race shop only ten miles
from Concord Speedway, Horak Racing will have home court advantage
on their side
