Born and raised in the farm country of western Kansas, Terry Horak attributes his passion for motorsports to his family and their love for the cars and stars of the dusty Midwestern bull rings of the 1970's & 80's. Saturday nights for Terry, from the time he was old enough to sit on dad's knee, meant hopping in the family cruiser for a trek to the biggest show in the area to watch the region's best hot shoes put on a ground pounding display for the locals. From sprints to midgets, to late models to modifieds, if it had a motor and wheels the Horaks followed them all.
At age 15 Terry had saved enough penny's from his after school jobs to purchase a midnight blue 1969 camaro - his first love. With some smooth negotiating tactics and a fair amount of annoying begging, Terry convinced mom and dad to allow him to bracket race the camaro at nearby Kearney (Nebraska) Dragway. Competing before he had a legal drivers license, Terry brought home his first win in 1981.

Though it wasn't the same as twisting a dirt mod sideways into the clay banking at the local half-mile, drag racing the camaro and a slew of other door slammers quenched Terry's need for speed on a miniscule budget through the high school years. The fall of 1983 brought college and a need to put the racing schedule on hold until a degree and successful career were in hand. Vowing not to return to competition until time allocations and finances were sufficient to race at a comfortable level, Terry's family obligations and climb up the corporate ladder kept him out of the seat for 20 years.

Having never lost the passion for motorsports and competition Terry's reentry to racing in 2004 was in the form of an INEX Thunder Roadster. Racing in events at historic circle tracks across the Southeast, the Summer Shootout and King of the Ovals series provided the fundamental lefthander experience and success necessary to help Terry step into other race cars.

In 2007 Terry moved to the Pro Challenge series. Adapting very well to the race truck, Terry and the team managed 7 poles and numerous top five finishes, culminating with a rookie of the year award in the Carolina Region. The tradition of success continued in 2008 with a win in the Summer Spectacular at prestigious Bristol Motor Speedway.

With the goal of building one of America's premier stock car racing teams, Terry and Horak Racing, LLC moved up to the highly competitive ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour in 2009. With two newly acquired super late model stock cars, the team finished 12th in points against some of the best late model racers in the country.

2010 saw team Horak step up and compete for points in two very competitive late model series; the Sunoco National Tour and the HutchBSR Pro Late Model Series.  Sporting the new 2010 Camaro body style in the Sunoco National Tour, Horak recorded strong results at famous racing landmarks like Nashville Super Speedway, Milwaukee Mile, ORP, Rockingham and North Wilkesboro which led to a sixth place finish nationally.  In addition Horak and the team finished fourth in points in the HutchBSR Pro Late Model Series, Concord Speedway's premier late model series.  To cap off a great season Horak finished 9th in the Prestigious North/South Shootout at the end of the year among a stellar field of 28 super late models.  Horak Racing would record no finishes outside the top ten for the entire year.

With his winning spirit, sense of nostalgia, drive for excellence, and pure appreciation of the friends and fans he's come to know through racing, Terry Horak and Horak Racing will undoubtedly be one of the growing forces to contend with for quite some time around the speedways of the America.
